Vlog: More Real

Nancy Hicks Vlog 25 – Relationship: Rest Well

Hello Dear Friends,

If you’re reading this, maybe you’re taking a moment for yourself.  Good for you!

If you take the time to think about what I suggest in this video, you may make a few discoveries. Here’re a couple of my own as it relates to rest:

  • I’ve realized that I have a guilt thing going on.  There are so many people who don’t have the “luxury” of putting their feet up for a few minutes on any given day.  Why should I have the “privilege?”
  • My wiring to go go go can sometimes be about proving that I’m not lazy.  That I’m responsible.  My busyness is proof that I’m a valuable contributor.  Especially when someone else in the family has maybe been the financial provider.  “I’m contributing, too!” I seem to be shouting by my activity.
  • If I won’t allow myself to rest, when I know I need it, I’ve discovered down deep I can have an inflated sense of self.  As if the household’s success (or ministry, business, etc.) rests solely on my shoulders.

Then I stop.  And breathe.  And look again at Jesus.  He was GOD.  He actually did have the weight of the world on His shoulders –  yet pulled away and rested.

I can relate to God, the kids, heck everyone in a way that better honors them and our relationship when I’m rested.

So please let me know what you discover about you and your rest.  I’d love to hear.

I’m real because God is so real.  ~ Nancy
