Nancy Hicks Vlog 34b – Big God

David Bradstreet and me.
Happy Tuesday!
What a great weekend at Sandy Cove in Maryland. It was my first time ministering in that fantastic place! (Boy, I’m exhausted. This traveling speaker/preacher calling is bigger than I realized.)
I wanted to pick up on last week’s Vlog and explore a couple of things in a simple Blog this week.
I mentioned that Dr. David Bradstreet’s new book, Star Struck caused me to worship at the bigness of God. It’s fun to read about the cosmos as reported through the eyes of dedicated God-loving astronomers like Dr. Bradstreet.
And of course questions then abound! I mentioned that God can take your tough questions, but can Christians?
Sometimes Christians get all wigged out and antsy about not having all the answers. Even though scripture is clear that we will not have all the answers. For example:
Ecclesiastes 11: 5 – As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.
Most of us know that in matters of theology and science we sure DO NOT have all the answers. But one thing is certain, as the great 11th century theologian, Thomas Aquinas stated,
“If it’s true in science, it’s true in theology. If it’s true – really true – theologically, it’s true scientifically.” They must be congruent. So God’s got it. Relax.
Here are a couple of tips to help us shake our omniscient mindset:
- PRACTICE SAYING, “I DON’T KNOW.” Really. Try it right now. I don’t know.
- PRACTICE SAYING, “WHAT DO YOU THINK?” Or “what have you read?” or, “what do you know?” These are helpful in keeping the discussion open.
- PRACTICE SAYING, “THE SCRIPTURES TEACH…and I have found…”, or “…I wonder…”
Blessings to you as we humbly keep the lines open for people to explore what we can, and cannot know of God.
I’m real because God is so real. ~ Nancy

Two of my guys – Cam and David – probably in deep discussion.
I enjoyed my time at Sandy Cove last weekend too and thoroughly enjoyed listening to you & Ellie Lofaro speak. I also loved hearing you sing at the Talent Show too. God truly blessed you in many ways.
Thanks, Paula. I had a great time! I appreciate your reaching out to me. Blessings to you!
